Room to Care
The Cable Channel is partnering with NCTA on “Room to Care,” a unique program in support of CableCares.
As it has for over 20 years, The Cable Channel will air video coverage of the cable business on in-room TVs in hotels housing Cable Show ’08 attendees. “Room to Care” will involve those hotels in the CableCares effort. NCTA has asked hotels to provide a free “dark channel” to air The Cable Channel on. In return, rather than paying hotels for use of their channels, The Cable Channel will give $1 per room to Cable Cares.
The “Room to Care” initiative is expected to raise about $10,000 for CableCares. Hotels have not only indicated their willingness to participate, but have expressed enthusiasm for this community service program. “A great idea!” wrote one hotel convention services manager in response to NCTA’s request for the channel. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” wrote another.
Having spent perhaps $1 million over the years renting channels in hotels, Steve Nelson, President & Executive Producer of The Cable Channel, said, “I’m thrilled to be able to put some money to work to help New Orleans, one of my favorite cities."
So when you’re watching The Cable Channel at The Cable Show ’08, it’s because your hotel has “Room to Care.”
