The Cable Channel, in partnership with NCTA, introduces, "Room to Care". The Cable Channel will donate $1 to Cable Cares for every hotel room that provides a "dark channel" to air The Cable Channel.

The New Times Roll Bus Tour
Multichannel News presents "The New Times Roll Bus Tour". The tour leaves on Sunday, May 18, at 8:30 am. The coaches will tour the French Quarter (for coffee and beignets), the heavily flooded Marigny, the Lower Ninth Ward, and wind through Musician’s Village where guests will see Habitat for Humanity projects. Proceeds benefit Cox Charities.

Bringing Schools Back: Gospel Music Channel
Gospel Music Channel and Feed the Children will bring CableCares, Cox New Orleans and corporate sponsor Lincoln together to give hope, inspiration and music to children and families in the Recovery School District. Three tractor trailer trucks arrive Saturday, May 17 filled with food packages for families, backpacks stuffed with school supplies and musical instruments for schools. |
Fine Living Drive
Scripps Networks is hosting a company-wide Fine Living drive. They are collecting toiletries and other family essentials before and during the show which will be donated to local shelters in the area. View a flier for the drive. |
Motorola - Partners In Technology & Education
Motorola will be donating $50,000 as a Partners In Technology & Education grant to provide upgraded video and high speed data access to the new Chalmette High School in St. Bernard's Parish; currently scheduled to open the fall of 2009. |

Prom Dresses for New Orleans
In March, Discovery Communications participated in “Prom Dresses for New Orleans,” a program started in 2006 by then high school student, Marisa West. Realizing that hundreds of her peers would not have prom gowns due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, West’s goal was to collect 100 dresses to send to the girls of New Orleans. That year, 2,800 dresses were donated from people around the country, and over 1,000 pieces of jewelry were sent to high school girls throughout New Orleans.

Univision's Comedy and Cocktails Event
Thank you to Univision for their generous gift to CableCares. Univision Networks will host a Latin-style cocktail and comedy event to kick-off the evening of Monday, May 19 and will donate $100 per event attendee to support CableCares.
