Think BIG : The 2008 Cable Show. May 18-20 - Morial Convention Center - New Orleans

TV Week Lunch

60 Years of Cable TV: Where do we go from here?

Cable television began in the spring of 1948, when John and Margaret Walson connected several homes to a cable in the mountainous Mahanoy City area of Pennsylvania. The cable was connected to a TV antenna John had put up on a utility pole to get reception from three TV stations in Philadelphia. It was a brilliant innovation.

During this special luncheon panel we will celebrate cable's innovative past, plus---even more importantly---primarily discuss where cable needs to go to continue to be innovative and thrive in what's become a very competitive marketplace. We will also present Television Week's 2008 Cable TV Executive of the Year, NAMIC President Kathy Johnson, with her award.
